While Hong Kong is being unrest, C-Mo and I headed to Laos with some of our curator staff on the day which marked our 36th wedding anniversary. Though exhausted, our hearts were warm. Continued from last week, Pastor Anna taught cell leaders how to disciple cell members in light of the current situation in Hong Kong: If any cell member expresses any opinions, in a seemingly emotional state on cell group chat room, may it be political or not, cell leader must take back the right to speak in the group and state his stance. Being the spiritual parent of the cell group, he shall never remain silent. If he does, the emotionally stirred cell member will keep on talking while others may be uninterested. Recently protests against the amendment of the Extradition Bill have turned into demonstrations and clashes between police and citizens, therefore, enmity and opposition put the society in fear and unease.
In light of Hong Kong’s recent political climate, how should cell leaders disciple their cell members? Pastor Anna made some suggestions during 4th July Monthly Prayer Meeting: “Firstly, cell leaders as the authority must speak up and set the tone in the cell group. Cell leaders may suggest some prayer pointers, encourage cell members to pray for the predicament of Hong Kong through gift of prophecy, receive revelation about the situations in physical and spiritual realms. When we have decided to organize this event, God told us that this is the generation He has chosen as “pioneers” to do unprecedented things for His kingdom.
Early this year, we received from God that the church shall enter a period of rest, hence reducing church activities and putting the body and soul of the co-workers to greater peace.
