Kneading dough: Building the team; unleashing the Discipleship Power of the Cell Group (1)

During the monthly prayer meeting on 7 March, C-Mo shared tips on discipleship and team building, using the analogy of “kneading dough”. Flour is without form by itself – as water is added to it, it turns into dough. From this, I am inspired about discipleship and team leading. For example, if a cell leader attends to the needs of cell members A, B and C individually, it is like taking out three small balls of dough from the big dough of cell group: these three balls of dough are on their own. They are not bonding with the big […]

Turn Defeat into Victory

It is Easter Holiday this week, time to commemorate Jesus Christ rising from the dead and defeating death! Ever since Purim until now, God has been sending out the message of “turning defeat into victory” so that we may experience God’s might and breakthrough in all aspects. Last week, our “Curator staff” were invited by the Chinese Baptist Convention to the “Team Ministry Training Conference” held in Taiwan from 7- 9 April. There we shared with over 300 pastors and coworkers about building up Tree of Life churches. Their deep longing tells us that God is surely at work! This […]

You and I are the “Precious Pearl” in God’s eyes

In the monthly prayer meeting on 14th February, Pastor Joshua and C-Mo shared their visit to a famous pearl provider in Australia. Due to cordial hospitality of the provider, Pastor Joshua and C-Mo had deep conversation with them and come to understand their history. Being greatly impressed, C-Mo stated that. “This well-known pearl provider is a family business whose ancestors from Greece went to Australia in 1919 and this year marks their 100th anniversary. In the beginning, they were unaware of pearls inside the clamshells. They made a business making buttons from clamshells. Later on, as plastic buttons appeared in […]

Pass it on, fully

“Acceptable 2019” is full of God’s grace! He has blessed my three-point shots. Last Sunday evening, 611’s basketball team won an overwhelming victory. In one match, I myself scored three-point shots three times, which was unprecedented.

Sadness to Joy Defeat into Victory ANEW Sunday Purim Celebration

“Acceptable 2019”, ANEW finds great “Acceptance” from God as we pulled off a musical for the very first time! The cast and crew were thrilled to bits to celebrate the Purim through the musical. The team was indeed of all nations, including members from Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. English was not our first language and yet everyone willingly and happily put in their best. The Japanese brother didn’t expect to play a role. But as he did, he thoroughly enjoyed it! With only three rehearsals before the actual performance, everyone was largely thankful to be able to […]

Looking Back, Filled with Gratitude

Penning “Pastor’s Note” week in and week out, I am always filled with boundless gratitude. Starting from the first sermon “Acceptable 2019” at the beginning of this year, I have not ceased thanking God for His “Acceptance” over us; as new things and blessings keep coming to us. Last Saturday, Professor Lin preached to over 510 people in the Abundant 120 Service. At the end of the service, Brother Chris walked into the main hall with flowers, singing Pastor Lyan’s favourite song “Looking back, filled with gratitude” which was written by C-Mo for the church’s 17th anniversary. He chose to […]

Zechariah Church Building Revival Project Entering the fifth phase, new mileston

Last Sunday, Pastor Joshua heartily announced the successful completion of phase four of “Zechariah Church Building Revival Project” and the official start of the fifth phase, a milestone of Church Building. The fifth phase mainly includes two parts: purchase and exploration of the “Garden Eden” in Cheung Chau, and the renovation of Yong Ya multimedia centre. The land purchased in Cheung Chau is over 160,000 sq. ft. Apart from agricultural use and rebuilding the existing licensed houses, we expect to apply for changing the usage of part of the land to build retreat site for cell groups, healing ministry and […]

Walk in the rhythm of God

It is feast of Purim this week, celebrating the time God’s people were delivered from their enemies: their sorrows were turned into joy, and their mourning into a day of celebration. Since resuming the celebration of biblical festivals in 2004, we run an “Esther Musical” every Purim. It happens that we are in a period of rest this Purim, therefore we break away from this convention. The meaning of Purim will be shared through story-telling instead, a brand-new way for us to celebrate festivals. In the past fourteen years, we have been observing God-appointed festivals and following His heart. Unknowingly, […]

Pray in Tears, Discipleship Never Fails

MG Leader Cherry continued sharing about her discipleship: “I always pray for my disciples and cell members. When they do not want to listen to me, l pray for them. Some disciples and cell members are of broken lives and lowly backgrounds. I don’t know how to help them. In times to wage wars for them, to bless or intercede for them, or when their marriage is on the brink of breaking down, I always pray. God has given me a love that never gives up so that I always kneel before the Lord, weeping and crying out for them. […]

Host God Wholeheartedly

The coming weekend will be the last sermon in the “Hospitality” series, and the beginning of Phase 5 of the “Zechariah Church Building project”. From these, I am made aware of the good will and the guidance of our heavenly Father, and His acceptance of us. Phase 5 of this revival project includes building of the “Garden of Eden” on our purchased land in Cheung Chau, and renovation of the Multimedia Centre at Young Ya Industrial Building. Renovation at Young Ya has taken a long while because we had requested to change the usage of the site, and government approval […]
