Miracles during the 40-Day Fasting and Prayer

The 40-Day Fasting and Prayer of our church has just ended. In retrospect, many miracles happened. To us, it means that God has been protecting and leading us. We stand amazed!

As early as on the first Sunday of this year, God already revealed to us through Psalm 22 that this year was going to be “#Jehoshua 2022”. I could never have imagined then Hong Kong shall be hit by the pandemic so bad. Naturally, no one wanted to preach such a heavy message. However, God is in the know and He is always in control. We have always faced the pandemic by holding fast to the Word of God. We trust God again and again, believing that He shall definitely save us.

Our 40-Day Fasting and Prayer started on February 7 and ended on March 18. During this time, the pandemic in Hong Kong has reached its peak. Led by God, we did a prayer walk for Hong Kong on February 18, crying out for God’s mercy and grace. God gave us affirmation that His promise of sure salvation shall come true by showing us an exceptionally big sun. The next day, the situation in Hong Kong went downhill rapidly. All church co-workers had to work from home and could not have physical gatherings. Our omniscient and omnipotent God had led us to have the prayer walk before all these. God has made every day and everything, all is in God’s hand!

On March 3, we had our monthly prayer meeting to connect with brothers and sisters and cried for Hong Kong together. The number of confirmed cases reached a record high – over 56,000 a day. Looking back, we know that God was leading us to pray earnestly at that crucial point to bring down His presence.

Meanwhile, God moved us to set up the #Jehoshua Relief Fund to raise donations and materials to send help to those in need as a token of love and care. Within two weeks we had already gathered all the needed food and relief materials. On March 17, we started to deliver the materials door to door. It also marked the first day of Purim! All this is in God’s hand without our fore-planning.

The 40-day Fasting and Prayer ended on Purim and with limited manpower, we insisted on celebrating God’s festival. We declared that the anointing of turning defeat into victory should come upon our congregation and to Hong Kong. Amazingly, the Monday after that, the government announced that certain scheduled premises will reopen gradually from the end of April, including religious places, which could have limited physical gatherings. Also, the number of daily confirmed cases was going down gradually from its peak, showing a downward trend.

Thank God for leading us to pray. Through our prayers, He manifested His Work during the 40-Day Fasting and Prayer. Let’s continue to follow God closely and bring down God’s presence and blessings in Hong Kong, and even to the world! 【2022.03.27】
