A Song of Life
Last Sunday, C-Mo and I shared the message on Psalm 113: “A Song of Life.” A drama was shown of some moments from my younger days, illustrating the truth that “He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap” and that we should “Praise the Lord”! Though I was reluctant to face my lowly past again, for example being sent to the police office for theft, I knew that God wanted to bless people through this experience, so I decided to open up my life.
After the service, I was told that many people were in tears watching this scene. They felt that even in their difficulties, God saw, understood and raised them. In such a dense atmosphere of the Tree of Life, many people, including the actors of the drama, were greatly healed and set free.
Looking back at this message “A Song of Life”, I saw that it was all by God’s timely guidance. The co-worker assigned to preach could not make it, so with nothing but willingness to follow God, I took up the role. It was beyond my expectation that immediately on the following Tuesday, there was the “Summit of Three Generations”, which allowed me to havedirect and frank conversations with the younger generation. I was able to use my own life as an example to respond to young people’s piercing questions on life sufferings and on the social unr est in Hong Kong.
Dear brothers and sisters, the Holy Spirit has led us, through Psalm 113 and my poor childhood, into the truth that “He… lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that He may seat him with princes… He grants the barren woman a home, like a joyful mother of children”. In this dense atmosphere of the Tree of Life, the healing ministry of our church is expanded. No longer is it the sole domain of those with gifts of power praying for others, but now it is also done through cell group meetings, Sunday services and gatherings. Let us rise up and build up cell groups and gatherings that release the fragrance of the Tree of Life. We praise the Lord with a song of life, even during difficulties.
