Ps Joshua and C-mo responded to the testimony that Ps Ruby shared last time:
Pastor Joshua: “How do we integrate our faith into our life and daily living? Traditionally; we, as a child, are to listen to our parents. In the Tree of Life, we also listen to our parents: giving them support and care, building up relationship with them. However, our bottom line is God and the Truth. If ”honoring our parents” would clash with the Truth, we shall not give up the Truth just to maintain a harmonious relationship. For example: What if your parents do not allow you to be baptized? What if your parents do not allow you to minister? Do we give up these things? No! Sometimes, like Ruby, being insistent is a good thing.”
C-Mo: “Ruby made a very difficult decision, taking on the misunderstandings and blame of many relatives and being accused of dishonoring her parents. I think many people may find it difficult to make such a decision, as they would like to maintain a good relationship with their parents on the surface. Unwilling to have conflict with their parents, they ultimately compromise. For example, Basil’s father did not pray before meals. Basil prayed silently by himself, not wanting to confront his father and cause conflict. Compromising is to keep giving in. Although we can use compromise to avoid conflict in relationships , this will not demonstrate the vitality and influence of faith. Many people are afraid of having conflicts and differing opinions with others, so they choose to escape, unable to live out the life of Tree of Life.
Indeed, real faith must be tested. I see that God has blessed Ruby. Firstly, her parents affirmed her choices, acknowledging her as the first pastor in the family tree. They are proud of her. Secondly, Ruby is honored in her family. Although she is the youngest in the family, her elder siblings, nephews, and nieces respect her. Spiritually, she is the head of the family, leading them to trust and believe that God is the source of all blessings. What a good testimony it is.” (to be continued)•[2020.06.21]
