We are grateful for the new revelation God granted at the recent co-workers’ Couples’ Camp. Everyone, in the Holy Spirit, pondered together what the Tree of Life is and what the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil signifies. Couples, under the illumination of the Holy Spirit, examined their lives and achieved breakthroughs in life and relationships, which were both refreshing and effective. It’s truly amazing!
In the past, our assumption for the Couples’ Camp was that everyone understood the truth, so when couples dumped “emotional rubbish” and apologized, they could reflect within the Tree of Life. However, it turned out that even the preaching staff could not recognize the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Many mistakenly believed that these two trees only existed in the Garden of Eden, neglecting that they also exist in the real world. Simply put, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is all about “me, me, me!” Everything starts from self-perception and is judged from a self-centered viewpoint. The fruits of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil are pleasing to the eye, meaning they are attractive and even have a magic power to allure everyone to judge their spouses and others based solely on personal opinions, blaming each other, which is also quite commonplace in society.
Pastor Debby, one of the camp instructors, mentioned that she and her husband were fully aware of their shortcomings. However, in the past, when being accused, one would feel uncomfortable and hence reluctant to apologize. This time, under the illumination of the Holy Spirit, they proactively engaged in self-reflection and examined their own issues without blaming one another, resulting in significant breakthroughs in their relationship. In this fresh flow, self-examination illuminated by the Holy Spirit is immensely powerful!
The leader of the Couples’ Camp, Eben, also experienced a significant awakening in his life. He has come to understand the profound influence of the perspective through which he views his spouse. In the past, he often demanded acceptance of his feelings from his wife first in order to feel understood. He reflected that this was a distortion in his own life, and he is grateful that his wife was willing to help him with an attitude aligned with the Tree of Life.
Due to our biological families and the worldly values, we are deeply influenced by the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. It is indeed challenging to recognize these two trees in our lives, families, and the church, and we truly need the illumination of the Holy Spirit! Without the Holy Spirit, the truths we see will only apply to others, not to ourselves. Without the Holy Spirit, we will be limited by outdated traditions. We will not only be unable to break through but also lack faith.
Dear brothers and sisters, as believers in Christ, we must rely on the Holy Spirit to enter into the Tree of Life. Let us learn to examine ourselves in the Holy Spirit and look at our spouses and others through the lens of the Tree of Life, so as to enter into this fresh flow filled with hope and blessings and be transformed by the renewing of our mind continuously.■【2025.05.18】
