Song of Victory

Our worship leader, Debbie, preached the second message of the “Praise” series. She illustrated a modern Leah, who is a character in the bible, through her life. Joined by her husband, Boaz, she testified how God had saved their marriage so that in the end they were able to sing a song of victory in praise.

Shortly after their marriage, fourteen years ago, she was looking forward to the sweetest moment in life. Yet she was faced with an icy cold husband. Boaz was helplessly trapped in homosexuality. Debbie was left to face friends and relatives by herself, struggling to explain the situation. For a long time, Boaz was stuck in self-pity, self-blame and even depression. As a result he was unable to face people and his wife. After numerous failed attempts of wooing her husband, Debbie was in a deep struggle and agony, not sure if she should give up or continue pursuing the marriage.

In their deep desperation, God saved them! They cried out to God in their difficulties and praised God with their last energy. God led them to the Tree of Life, under which they had their wounds healed and twistedness straightened. Their miseries, which were once hidden, denied and neglected, have now been brought into the light, understood and accepted. Fourteen years have passed, they could finally testify to all in the Mercy Seat that God has liberated them completely!

In the Bible, Leah overcame misery through praise. Today Boaz has overcome the bondage of homosexuality; he accepts himself (as one created by God) and does not fear what people think of him. Debbie embraced misery because her eyes were on her husband. Now she is holding onto God and embracing Him. God has won her husband over for her, and granted her lovely children, so that she has become a blessed woman. They can now exchange love freely with each other and enter into the wonderful blessing of “becoming one flesh”. If it had not been for God’s power, this glorious day would have been totally unimaginable.

Jacob experienced hard labor for fourteen years. God’s mighty hand has also kept them through fourteen years of hard marriage. They are now at a stage – ready to be used mightily by God. Dear brothers and sisters, what anguish are you in right now? God desires to save you. Cry out to God and offer your praises to Him. He will surely hear you, and give you reasons to sing songs of victory out loud!■【2022.08.21】
