Praise the Lord! Our church has resumed physical services as of this Thursday seeing that the pandemic is easing. It has been 15 weeks since our physical services stopped on Jan 7. What a great delight it is to meet brothers and sisters in person again!
In the past four months Hong Kong has seen the worst of the pandemic. We were hit with enormous challenges, making our lives very difficult. Thank God! He has led us to overcome hurdles one by one. In retrospect, our omniscient and omnipotent God has prepared everything for each of our steps.
On Jan 6 I received from God that the church should stop physical services to spare brothers and sisters from exposure to infection. That evening, just before the monthly prayer meeting, we called a special meeting for curator staff. Prompted by the Holy Spirit, we decided to announce the news of stopping physical services – from the very next day. Surprisingly, the government announced the suspension of meetings in religious premises from the Jan 7. Unintentionally, we were ahead of the government. Most amazingly the paramount message, “Jehoshua 2022”, was preached to our members and branch churches on the first Sunday of 2022. That meant that everyone knew that God reigns. The seed of peace was sown in our hearts so that we could trust God through it all.
On Feb 18 our co-workers did a prayer-walk for Hong Kong. Towards the end of it, we learned of the first co-worker being infected. Therefore, all co-workers worked from home from the next day onwards. Thankfully, we completed the prayer-walk at that crucial moment. We accomplished this important task for God just in time.
When the pandemic was at its worst, dozens of co-workers were infected. Yet God did not fail to guide us. Co-workers built up “communities” based on their areas of residence. Besides prayer support, they loved each other in action, sending food and supplies to those in need. Hence, our team has grown in maturity. We also extended love and care to those outside the church as we started the “Jehoshua Love and Care” action. We delivered supplies to needy members, families and friends. Taking this real action of mercy, we experienced deeper mercy and love from God. God’s love is thus manifested.
The pandemic has made our lives very difficult. However, God never ceases working – He has brought us peace and strength. As we resume physical services, I believe God will do greater things amongst us. With gratitude, let us continue to look to God, follow Him closely, and trust Him again and again. He shall surely bless us!■【2022.04.24】
