Prayer Focus for Malaysia (II)

The pandemic situation severely affecting the economy

Malaysia is still struggling to decrease the number of cases reported daily, ranging from 17,000 to 20,000 in the month of September due to a more transmissible delta variant that is nearly impossible to do contact tracing. There is actually insufficient testing as many opt to stay home and practice self-quarantine than step out and be tested.

However, the Malaysian government will start treating Covid19 as an endemic disease around the end of October and restriction is starting to lift. Not because the pandemic situation has stabilized, but because the Malaysian economy cannot take the lockdown anymore.

Lord, many families are struggling to provide for food and housing in Malaysia, have mercy and kindness over them and rebuke all the pestilence away from the land. Give the people wisdom to adhere to strict regulations to contain the pandemic in Malaysia that Covid19 will not be a permanent presence in the community and continues to circulate among people.
