Being Royal Priests to Pray for the Nations

Recently in our Morning Devotion, we drew lots to read Micah. Last Friday (June 13th), we read Chapter 4, which speaks of the end days when God will cease wars and bring peace. Later, we found out that on that very dawn, Israel launched an airstrike on Iran, targeting its nuclear facilities and military bases. Subsequently, Iran retaliated, heightening tensions in the Middle East. How could this timing be so coincidental? What is God revealing to us through this?

Micah Chapter 4 describes God’s plan to transform Jerusalem into the New Jerusalem. His ultimate will for Jerusalem is, “He shall judge between many peoples and rebuke strong nations afar off; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” (Micah 4:3, NKJV). Interestingly, this very verse has also been adopted by the United Nations—how miraculous! It appears that God is teaching us to pray for Israel and the Middle East according to His ultimate will, so that the New Jerusalem may descend.

It is God’s intention for Jerusalem to rise as a leader, for He has established her high above all other mountains, exalted among all peoples. God wants to elevate Jerusalem, for the word of instruction is to come forth from Zion. She is to speak to the nations so that they will lay down their swords and cease fighting one another, bringing eternal peace. This is God’s ultimate will. It mirrors God’s call to the Israelites when He brought them out of Egypt. At Mount Sinai, He established a covenant, giving them commandments, and dwelled among them. God said to the Israelites, “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” Every Israelite heard God’s words because His consistent intention for Israel has always been to make them a kingdom of priests. Everyone is called to rise and become a priest—and how can priests wage war? Priests are peacemakers, bringing God’s peace to earth, so that everyone may live in harmony, and wars will cease!

I feel that God has been leading 611 all along. Why is it, out of so many books, that we happened to draw Micah for our Morning Devotion? Why did war break out at that exact moment? When we reached Chapter 4, the events unfolded. Truly, God knows that we do not know how to pray, so He guides us to understand His will. Dear brothers and sisters, we must align ourselves with God’s heart, especially in these chaotic times. As Christians, we must cling tightly to God and pray for the Middle East, Israel, and even the nations, according to His will. Let us intercede for the nations in accordance with His desires, believing that the New Jerusalem will one day come and that God’s will shall undoubtedly be fulfilled!■【2025.06.22】
