For twenty-four years since the church was established, tending the lamp through Morning Devotion has been a ministry we deeply value. When we tender the lamp for God, He grants revelatory light through His Word and leads the church to walk in His will. One indispensable part of Morning Devotion—response time—is the key that guides us into the truth.
In traditional churches, only God’s words are emphasized, with little or no ministry to people after preaching. Yet after Jesus taught, He served others—healing and praying for them. Since being renewed by the Holy Spirit, I realized we must not only proclaim God’s Word but also follow the Spirit to minister to people and to demonstrate the truth. Thus, after sharing the Word in Morning Devotion, we also engage in prayer and pursuit.
This world was not formed from what is visible but from God’s Word! After proclaiming His Word, we take action—hence we take prophetic actions during response of Morning Devotion. When SARS broke out in Hong Kong, the church held a 100-night evangelistic meeting at North Point Pier. On those nights, we proclaimed what Jesus proclaimed and did what Jesus did. We believed God’s Word and Spirit were at work, and His Word would bring change and protection for Hong Kong. This is the response part of Morning Devotion.
We also collectively experience the reality of Scripture. Recently, we read how the Lord showed Moses the design of the Tabernacle during Morning Devotion. Hence I led the congregation to spiritually enter the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies, all co-workers felt the profound reality of Scripture. Hebrews says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1 NKJV). With the Holy Spirit, we act on God’s Word, blending it with faith, and enter in. The world will be changed and the Word and reality of God will come upon our land.
We believe God accomplishes all things through His Word. Leaders must have faith, and those who are led must also have faith, interacting with God together. This is a spiritual realm—more real than the visible world. The Holy Spirit comes to guide us into this reality. We normally read the whole Bible one time every four years, yet each time, there is always fresh manna for us. This is God’s specific portion for the church. May all receive abundant spiritual nourishment and enter the reality of Scripture.■【2025.03.30】
