It’s “Launch 2025” this year. God’s work is indeed amazing. We happen to be reading Exodus in Morning Devotion where it talks about every Israelite who was a slave in Egypt was launched out of Egypt and entered into God’s Promised Land. Today, all children of God shall be launched out of the bondages of the kings of the world – no more chains and slavery. The beautiful will of God shall be accomplished in us.
This week, we read Exodus chapter 11 of only 10 verses. Yet it is a powerful chapter because God Himself declares that Pharaoh will let the people leave the land and God Himself will accomplish this. The Israelites spent four hundred years in Egypt. God performed miracles to save them. However, after nine plagues, Pharaoh still refused to let them go and his heart was still hard. Did it mean that God failed and He was powerless? Could His people really leave Egypt? We are now facing the world in turmoil, especially the trade war is affecting Hong Kong’s economy and families. Is God really looking after us? Is He able to deliver us out of difficulty?
The world is in the current state – war, calamity and extreme weather because mankind keeps making wrong decisions due to sin and our hearts are hard. Pharaoh was hard-hearted and it brought ten plagues. Why didn’t God destroy all Egyptian power in a blink of an eye? Is God truly sovereign? The fact is God’s plan was higher. In His time, the Egyptians pleaded for the Israelites to go and even gave them gifts. Israelites were great in the sight of Egyptians so the glory of God was made even more evident. Lastly, God wanted His people to come completely out of the world and all bondages.
Since birth until my forties, I had been through much hardship. Later on, I started church in Hong Kong and I also have faced many rejections and challenges. Looking back, I clearly acknowledge that God has His beautiful plan. The 9-year old daughter of co-worker Edmond was admitted to ICU due to pneumonia at the end of last year. She had a fever of 40 degrees for 20 consecutive days. Going through that ordeal, he was helpless and sad. However, finally his daughter made a full recovery. His whole family experienced the warmth and support of the Tree of Life big family. In this, God also demonstrated His perfect will.
Dear brothers and sisters, even though the overall situation is in turmoil and we face all kinds of life challenges, God is always sovereign. He shall surely deliver us out of difficulty and launch us on His path and not the world’s. Let us not be afraid because we shall definitely experience how good and upright He is on this path.■【2025.02.09】
