Everyone has his own unique experience in following God, but we all need to keep a pure and simple heart in order to stay firm and further in the journey.
My two disciples, Hadassah and her younger brother Joash, came from a broken family. They have turned to God in 611 since young, and at a young age they were already determined to serve Him full-time. They often came to the stage full of tears after gatherings, telling God that they were willing to offer themselves. As I look back on their journey of following God, I am truly grateful for them.
Hadassah came to our church in middle school, and a year later she already dreamed of staying in the church to serve God upon graduating from university, as God had been so good to her. C-Mo and I had been accompanying her as she grew up, and advised her to work for a year after graduation to gain social experience, so that she could have a broader vision and pastor the next generation and young people better. She did cry a lot as her dream was shattered, but she still trusted us with a pure heart. God was faithful. Right after graduation, she found a teaching job at the kindergarten just next to our church. After a year of work, she was able to join our team of co-workers and her dream finally came true. Now it’s been twelve years since then.
Joash was also healed and experienced God’s love and touch as he came to our church. He was determined to follow God at a very young age. However, he went through a period of struggles before fully dedicating himself. After graduating from university, he found a high-paid stable job, and the income, the social position, and the profession gradually drew him to the world. Yet, he had a burning passion in his heart to preach the gospel and the truth to young people, so that they too could experience the love and healing of the Holy Spirit. Facing this struggle, he saw the example of his sister Hadassah and brother-in-law Asaph of following God, and their faith, satisfaction and blessings. Besides, his wife had served full-time for two years and kept helping him all the way through. These all gave him the courage to rekindle his passion and quit his job to fully respond to God.
Though they walked through different paths, God was pleased with their simple hearts in following Him. In their days of following God, they have all established happy families of four and experienced miracles one after another. Even their mother experienced complete healing after diagnosed with two cancers in one year. When we follow God with a pure and simple heart, God truly will bless us.
I started following God at the age of 20, and now nearing 70, I have experienced a lot along the way. Facing countless difficulties, attacks and darkness, one is tempted to be complicated, jealous and bitter. This is exactly the battle that we must fight in our lives. At this moment, whether we will remain pure and simple in our lives is very important, and this is what I have constantly prayed and cried out to God for. I thank God for always guarding me! May all my co-workers and my children of our branch churches also keep following God with a pure and simple heart. ■【2024.07.14】
