Praise the Lord! The 9th Graduation Ceremony of Tree of Life Kindergarten was successfully held last Sunday. It was so touching and grateful to see the pure and lively children expressing their true selves.
In typical graduation ceremonies, student representatives give speeches to thank the teachers, which tend to be relatively formal. However, at the Tree of Life Kindergarten graduation, every child stood up to speak – some in Cantonese, some in Mandarin, and some in English. They were joyful, true, and confident, with very strong language abilities. They were not performing, but naturally being themselves and expressing their feelings. I’m grateful because C-Mo often says she is just being herself, without suppression, and now the children are able to be themselves, with such quality of her – happy and free.
Everyone of them is confident and able to embrace the fact that they are God’s creation. This reflects that the biblical truth taught by the church has taken root in their hearts. They also have a strong sense of security, showing that their family environment is also important for their healthy growth. From their lives, we can see that we are on the right track in paving our way of education, that is, the church, the family, and the school are closely inter-related to form a big family. Not only are the students nurtured, but the parents are also discipled, so that we all grow up together all-rounded in God’s love and truth. In fact, some of the most renowned American universities were founded by churches or Christian believers. These universities have had education and Christian religion closely knitted together for a long time before they went secular gradually. The church and the school can never be separated if we want to have our way of education.
Last year we established the team of Levite teachers and they have recently integrated the IEYC International Early Years Curriculum into the teaching materials that they developed. They have tried the materials in the kindergarten and received good results, so we will officially implement them in September. This a major step forward in Tree of Life education! With the school’s efforts, the church’s discipleship, and the parents’ input and opinions, we believe we can integrate biblical truth into the curriculum and expand them to elementary and secondary schools. The impact will surely be tremendous.
Looking back when we first founded the kindergarten, we were faced with many obstacles. But God has led us through all that and we are pleased to see our children growing up with joy and freedom under the Tree of Life. One of the parents thanked us for persisting in the Tree of Life education even when facing attacks and great difficulty and he would continue to support and follow us. I’m deeply thankful for this. I believe that as we continue to walk hand-in-hand, the Tree of Life education will have a great development.■【2024.06.30】
