Following God from Generation to Generation

Recently, Amos and Esther, senior pastor couples of GA611 in Malaysia have come to visit us and their youngest daughter Eunice. We had a wonderful time together.

Eighteen years ago, when 611 was still meeting at North Point Pier, we came to know them. One day, when I was praying in the Spirit in my office, God prompted me to contact them. I learned that they were at their lowest point because they were asked to leave by their traditional church. At the moment their family of five, joined by seven co-workers, was deciding what to do next. Responding to God’s leading, I invited them to be our branch church – receiving discipleship and covering from us. Back then, only 400 people met in 611.

C-Mo and I brought their whole family from Malaysia to Hong Kong. The youngest among them, Eunice, was nine years old then. They were consoled and healed as well as accepted and built up under the Tree of Life. Afterwards, they went back and started afresh. By commitment and devotion, they have followed us for 18 years. Now GA611 is one of the most influential Chinese churches in Malaysia and their branches stretch to Asia and even Africa.

I’m especially grateful that while they are following God with us, their next generation is catching up too. Three years ago, Eunice came to us, planning only to stay for three months. Yet due to the pandemic, she has stayed. Here, she connects with people and encounters God. It’s easy for pastors’ kids to take faith as their parents’ business. Thank God she has a personal relationship with God and she realises it should be of her own accord to serve God.

Now she is serving pastor’s kids and connecting with people by her own BEING. She is doing great in understanding them and helping them, finding great joy and satisfaction in doing so. The reason put in the application for a working visa for her to stay in Hong Kong was merely “caring for pastors’ kids”. God’s might and confirmation were evident when the visa was granted!

Esther, her mother found it hard to part with her and yet she willingly submitted to God’s leading. Now she is pleased to see that Eunice can help many pastors’ kids and she is proud of her. Moreover, she blesses her daughter to have her vision fulfilled and to complete what God has entrusted her.

Thank God that when we follow God, our branch churches are with us together and their next generation is following too. It is such a blessing! Dear brothers and sisters, let us continue to respond to our Lover’s calling and follow God closely!■【2022.10.02】
