Last week, Pastor Joshua shared Luke 7 in Morning Devotion which he titled, “God has visited His people”. That chapter tells of the life of different people such as the centurion who responded to God in love and faith and the sinful woman who anointed Jesus’ feet with expensive perfume and Jesus said that her faith saved her. It also records Jesus’ response to different people, e.g. He brought the widow’s son back to life for He had compassion on her. Jesus was on the move to seek those who need him, who have faith and love.
On the other hand, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves as they failed to see their needs for God. They were indignant to Jesus and question his identity. They rejected Jesus and chose to hold on to old traditions, their self-righteousness and refused change.
This makes me reflect on myself – when I hear Jesus’ words, do I respond with faith and love? I am thankful that through that message, God showed me my needs. Instead of responding to Him in faith and love, I have become cold and passive. I didn’t have the love to dispicle and hold cell group, I didn’t take the initiative to connect with others, even my authority. Being a bible school student and a church staff, I didn’t fulfil duties.
Thank God for encouraging me by the way the centurion responds in such great faith even he was a gentile and the love and faith of a sinful woman who poured out her whole heart before Jesus. This helps me to see how I need Jesus and that I need to be changed. The Word of God came to me when I needed it. Truly, Jesus is on the move!
Now I hold my own online cell group every week, go out eating and connect with people around me. Moreover, I realize that it is my responsibility to put my whole heart into my work and finish my task on time.
May I continue to grow in His words!
