As the summer starts, the youth joining “Campus Pioneer” has been attending Morning Devotion every day to understand more of God’s Word. How grateful I am for them!
It happened that we read Luke chapter 2 Morning Devotion on Wednesday. The young Jesus was aware of His heavenly calling at an early age. He was in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. He longed for God’s word. He was about His Father’s business and yet He also humbly submitted Himself to His earthly parents. Therefore He increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. The life of Jesus is a great role model for the youth!
Nowadays, online information is at the youth’s fingertips. They are thus led to think that they know a lot. However, the information they receive may not be fact, let alone the truth. Hence, young people should learn humility from Jesus. They are to be willing to learn from others and listen. They should be ready to study the truth and understand revelations in order to prepare themselves to be used by God.
Being older in age, we are more experienced in life than the youth. Somehow we mistake the youth for knowing nothing. Actually, they are sharp-eyed, paying full attention to how we lead our lives. Our children are the extension of our lives. Therefore, it is crucial how we live our lives because, how our lives are, so our next generation will be.
As parents, are we following God and putting Him first in our lives? Have we experienced God in our own lives so that our children can see God through us? Or do we simply appear to be godly while actually we are a hypocrite?
Being the current generation, we have to be even more humble and learn to listen to their hearts. When we try to understand them, they feel loved and understood. Only then can we lead them forward.
The present world is much more complicated than before. We face various challenges and trials including social turmoil, pandemic, economic stress, and relational tension etc. It calls for two generations walking together in humility. As we follow the Holy Spirit together, we shall be mightily used by God.■【2021.07.11】
