Humble Ourselves and Connect with God

During the 20th church anniversary just passed, we deeply encountered God’s grace and deeds. Moreover, we also witnessed how beautiful it was when co-workers worked together and gave their all with one heart.

Looking back at the whole process – despite the anniversary drama’s script being finalized only on Wednesday evening, the drama was able to be shown as scheduled on Friday night and was filled with God’s presence, what a miracle! From script-writing, script-translation, background music production, song-writing to its actual performance on stage; the collective work from the Kingdom Artists, worship team, band and the media team made all these possible. Everyone was flexible and they followed order submissively. From this, I see that the lives of our co-workers are becoming more mature which allows the Holy Spirit to move freely in our midst.

C-Mo mentioned about MVP (Most Valuable Player) of a basketball team in her thanksgiving during the anniversary services. As a team leader, an MVP puts aside his personal desires and humbles himself. Furthermore, he is flexible, mature and accommodating. This is what our band players were like – they denied themselves, followed the commander and adjusted the volume of their musical instruments accordingly so as to achieve the best overall effect. These twenty years, God Himself has been cultivating the life of everyone which makes our co-worker’s team ever maturing. Praise the Lord!

Counting the blessings of these twenty years, I have two feelings: firstly, it’s incredible. The leading of God is incredible. Starting from five co-workers and having nothing, we now have such a huge Mercy Seat, being elevated from our low points by God. The co-worker’s team is growing stronger and enjoying better relationship. Meanwhile we are getting healthier and more mature. All these are the works of God! Secondly, our church has always been in revival. Even though the pandemic is still lurking, the longing in our brothers and sisters is unaffected. Some new friends even just turned up at our church on their own accord. When we celebrated our 10th Anniversary, I declared that our church was entering transformation. Ten years down the line, now not only is the church transformed and revived, but also God leads us to a new stage. As we connect with God, our lives turn to be more flexible and mature.

The Bible says, “Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 18:4) The more we keep on following God and moving forward, the more we must humble ourselves. Our church has turned 20-year old which means this Tree of Life has attained certain growth. Yet we must always acknowledge how incompetent we are and watch how God leads us in everything. We should learn to lay down ourselves and fulfill others so that God’s presence will be greater in our midst and that His will be manifested in our lives.

May I bless co-workers, brothers and sisters, and branch churches pastors that we shall follow God in humility and that we, His vessels, can contain more of His kingdom, His Spirit and His word. Then our lives shall be more blessed!■[2021.05.16]
