Humbly Follow God

Praise the Lord, a new year has begun in the Lunar Calendar. May I wish all brothers and sisters victories in personal life, relationships with God and man and all matters great and small alike. May God give grace to us all so that in “Victories 2021”, we obey the Word of God, humbly follow Him, and encounter victory upon victory!

Through His Words, God has been guiding us continually. Recently, we have started reading the book of “Hebrews” in the Morning Devotion. Chapter two of “Hebrews” talks about Jesus Christ entering into perfection through suffering. He took seven steps of humiliations and submitted to God so that He accomplished salvation for mankind. In the meantime, He leads us into perfection and victory. This is to tell us: Humility is a way to victory.

If we keep our eyes on the difficulties in our environment, we will be downcast, wondering, “Does God see my misery? Does He know?” These are the reflections of our hearts. The fact is, we should only look to God, see what God is doing and then we humbly follow Him. We give what we have because everything is by God’s Grace and given by Him. We shall give thanks in everything and rejoice always, especially in year 2021. We must be humble in order to be victorious. Pride goes before destruction. We will be destroyed if we are proud, instead we must stay humble in order to be victorious.

There is a wood sculpture made by elder Zhangjie, a Christian sculptor in my office. It gives me an impression of “Humility”. It was interesting how I got this sculpture: few years back, I went to Taiwan with C-Mo when I met elder Zhangjie in an exhibition held in Taichung. Later on, I paid a visit to his studio where I randomly picked up a piece of wood from the floor and asked him to show me his sculpturing skill. As a proficient sculptor, it took him no time to finish a piece of sculpture. He named it, “The top of one mountain is the bottom of the next” while I called it “Humility”.

There are not many Christian sculptors who are used by God. Elder Zhangjie is in his 80s with more life experience than me. I strongly admire him and his sculptures carry much of spiritual meaning. The atmosphere is changed whenever his product is in display. “Humility” is placed in my office to always remind me — it takes humility to follow God. Thankfully God is using us and our branch churches, I declare that God shall rise up more new generation in the future. When that happens, I shall stay humble and not to get jealous.

Dear brothers and sisters, suffering shall not separate us from the love of Christ. Regardless of the circumstances, we are neither to follow the crowd nor the world. As long as we humbly follow God, He shall definitely use us to bless the whole world so that we may share the glory with the Lord on the earth He has created. [2021.02.14]
