How can we balance “Being” and “Doing” in our lives in a healthy way?
The key is to hold “Relationship” in high regard. Let us hear from Pastor Joshua and C-Mo: Pastor Joshua: “When we translated and published The Angel Inside in Chinese, we were encouraging everyone to unleash their true natures by discovering what God had put in them: goodness and the likeness of God. God created man to be good, yet man sinned and became corrupted, with a sinful nature placed in us. Therefore, when we talk about living out life’s “Being”, we are referring to “living out the good nature God has created in us;” we do not mean “to blindly follow our hearts’ desires.”
C-Mo: “God wants every one of us to live in freedom, without any hackneyed ideas. Besides “Being” and “Doing,” our lives also involve “Relationship”. If we emphasize solely on Being, ignoring relationship, then something is wrong with our “Being”: it is “Being” selfcentered. If we do not integrate our “Doing” with relationship, then our “Doing” is also off. Relationship is most crucial. God is a God of trinity; a relational God who relates to man. He has “Being” and “Doing. Out of the relationship between God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; His “Being” brings forth “Doing.” We are not to trade away our “Being” for more “Doing”; neither should we care only about “Being” and put aside our “Doing”. Instead, we should consider relationship to be above all. This way, we can avoid self-indulgence and self-gratification.•[2020.11.08]
