God’s Mighty Presence

The sermon “Come and Follow Me” last Sunday talked about Jesus calling a young man to leave everything and follow Him, but the young man was unable to let go of his earthly possessions and fame. As a result, he lost the blessings of both this life and the eternal one. Looking around at the world we are in, the global economy is under great shaking due to the pandemic, something unheard of in this century. It shows that there is a limit to humans. But what is impossible with man is possible with God. God’s people should never forget God’s hand because He is always with us, caring for us and leading us. We must follow Him closely!

Since the middle of last year, the social movement had been going on in Hong Kong. One early morning, C-Mo was prompted to set up a drama “The King of Love,” written by co-workers. Coincidentally, the drama was about the outbreak of an epidemic in a country. The political system in power at the time, might it be democratic or authoritarian, did not help to stop the epidemic. What matters most was that God is in our lives, with love comes healing. In hindsight, the drama was truly prophetic.

Following the performance of “The King of Love” on a Sunday service in December, our church has birthed the tenth and eleventh core values: “Freedom Brings Self-control” and “More Love, More Trust.” When we submit ourselves to authority, relying on God and following Him in the meantime, we will surely see miracles.

On May 18, 2015, C-Mo and I brought two hundred coworkers and church members to join a global prayer meeting in Indonesia. The hotel we stayed in was far away from the meeting venue and the traffic was terrible, making the trip extremely hard for us. It was past six o’clock in the morning when we got back to Tsuen Wan. Causally, I looked at the sky and saw an amazing picture of the cloud: it was like a palm in five colors. It was a confirmation from God! I sensed that God was encouraging us and reminding us that He had been with us all the time, watching over and leading us by His might!

Immediately, I took a photo of the cloud, and later our co-workers made 612 prints of it, with serial numbers from 000 to 611. I have kept the print with number 611 for myself. This Monday just past, we invited a couple for lunch. The husband was the one who drafted the bylaws of 611 Bread of Life Church when we first set up the church company. In hindsight, the concept and structure incorporated in the bylaws were ground-breaking. At that time, God gave me the idea of “144 leader members” and on such basis the church would be unaffected by the size of congregation, were it to increase to ten or even a hundred thousand. The bylaws are legally sound and binding, and what’s more, they are of an apostolic church! Therefore, the print with number 000 was given him as gift to honor this husband.

Last summer in Israel, God moved me to bring the peace of Jerusalem back to Hong Kong. Through to now, God has been guiding us all the way. We have been facing turbulence since last summer, but God has everything under control well ahead of time. Early January this year, He sent Pastor Anton Cruz to us, reminding us to stop all ministries except prayer and media ministries. He called us to be on fasting and prayer. At the end of January, we started 40-day fasting. Then, on February 9, we held global live broadcast with all branch churches. After that, we started online services in place of physical gatherings. Thank God for His guidance and protection, all brothers and sisters of our church and branches are in great peace now.

Dear brothers and sisters, God is faithful. He crowns our year with His goodness, and floods our paths with abundance. We should trust His hands and His might. We will have a sequel of “The King of Love” for our church anniversary in May. Let us continue to follow God in faith, and be expectant of His deeds.•[2020.04.26]
