He Answers Our Prayers

There has been novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak in China and all over the world and many countries have since closed their doors towards people from China and even Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Being part of these affected areas, we do feel the stress and anxiety of Hong Kong people.

“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you.” (Psalm 20:1)

But thank God, at the beginning of 2020, before the coronavirus outbreak, He gave us Psalm 20【Please refer to the Sunday Service sermon “Seeing 2020” dated January 5, 2020】, telling us that He has known and seen our needs. He will surely answer our prayers, so now it is the time to pray.

People in China and all over the world are working hard to stop the transmission and spreading of this new type of pneumonia. We should believe that God will surely protect us. Meanwhile, we should be rational enough to take all necessary public hygienic precautions, including those on cleaning and disinfection, to protect ourselves and others.

On the other hand, as mentioned in news reports, many people in Hong Kong are bulk purchasing household items including masks, rice and even toilet paper. This shows that the public is trapped in a state of panic, which is unnecessary. Our heavenly Father has told us earlier that He sees us, uplifts us and protects us. Certain gatherings, camps and courses in our church have been suspended or postponed, but we still run our Sunday services as normal while taking all necessary precautions. May we also appeal to brothers and sisters as well as friends who are attending the services: any one travelling from the country where the coronavirus originated, please disclose your travel history to us truthfully and self-quarantine for 14 days. This is the best preventive measure.

Our heavenly Father has been telling us that “He sees” and has given us two signs, as I shared during last Sunday’s service: First, when I had my eyesight checked at the optometrist, I was told that I no longer need to wear glasses! Of course, though having faith, I’m also rational. I would still wear glasses when I drive as this is one of the regulations stated on my driver’s license. Since last Sunday, February 2, 2020, I need not wear glasses when preaching! Second, our heavenly Father showed me a bright cloud in the shape of a map of China, with sunlight penetrating it, reflecting on the surface of the sea. Our Father is telling us that He has seen the epidemic in China and we need not worry about it.

Dear brothers and sisters, we believe that the epidemic will be over gradually and the peace of Jerusalem will fall upon us. May every member of our church have this peace during such a difficult time. May the Lord shine His face upon you and preserve your going out and your coming in.•[2020.02.09]
