Nineteen years ago, I was pastoring a church in Vancouver with understanding of “Great Commission” limited to evangelism only. I am an evangelist and have brought many people to Christ in the past. Yet I built up no disciples which meant that my discipleship of a decade had failed terribly. Leaving Canada, I joined a conference held by Bread of Life Christian Church in Taipei when I stayed with Senior Pastor Nathanael. Due to jet lag, I woke up at three in the morning and waited on God in quietness, seeking future direction. God prompted me to read on the Great Commission stated in the Gospel of Matthew. Studying it carefully again, I realized that the Great Commission mentioned included not only evangelism, but also “making disciples of all nations”!
Praise the Lord, as led by God, C-Mo and I joined the Bread of Life family, embarking the vision of global mission. After establishing 611 in Hong Kong, I was still eager to preach the Gospel to the nations but found discipleship of nations beyond my reach. Last year I received from God the mission to plant trees of life everywhere in 52 years, and that was confirmed by the concurrent appearance of the sunset and the rising moon during our cruise trip. Afterwards, I attended Council of Jerusalem in Israel where I met more pastors from nations. Then, the idea of planting churches and making disciples in all the earth is no longer unreachable to me.
Through MG12 discipleship and Bible School equipping, we are building up Kingdom’s vessels. At present, there are around 1000 cell leaders in our church. Besides Hong Kong, we have disciples in branch churches over the world. Moreover, the mission strategy from God is not to send Hong Kong people out as we usually did. Instead, He has brought people of all nations to Hong Kong to be equipped in the bible school. Then they go back to their home towns to plant churches after their lives have been transformed. In this way, the culture and language barriers between the two places are totally dissolved. Take myself for example, I am Hong Kong born and bred, commissioned to Hong Kong for church planting after being trained in Taipei, naturally I have authority over this land.
On Wednesday, we read chapter 14 of the book of Joshua during morning devotion. It talks about the Lord telling the Israelites to possess land in faith and then the land having rest from war. Likewise, God wants us to plant Trees of Life everywhere. As long as we follow Him wholeheartedly, we shall inherit the whole land, God’s Kingdom shall be established and peace shall come. Dear brothers and sisters, it is time for us to offer ourselves to God. Let us follow God wholeheartedly and make disciples of all nations to accomplish the Lord’s Great Commission.•[2019.12.22]
