It was such a precious learning opportunity

After seven years of pastoring, we as a couple enrolled into the 611 Leadership Institute. It was a short six months period, but it became a priceless time of learning. Here in the 611 Bible leadership institute, we learned the “practical church growth key”.

Pastor Eiji Iwayama

senior pastor of Hesed 611 BOL at Hokkaido

Until we came to 611, we used to think that church growth was all about implementing some excellent mission strategies or new ministries, and gathering gifted excellent teachers and pastors. But as we learned here, 611 grew with the Holy Spirit who works with the Word, and many ministries naturally grew out of the Spirit’s guidance and work. We truly saw and experienced a living church centered on the Word and Spirit.

611 applied the Isaiah 61:1 Word, especially the Power Ministry in many areas in church. Power ministry was used as an important tool for missions, and workers are constantly raised up. The students in the Leadership Institure received intricate teaching and application, that by the time they finish their leaning, they are at a level to practice what they learned at the field.

We saw an attitude of constantly raising up new teachers through the Leadership Institute, and we learned how to build up the next generation through practice.

There are some unique lectures, such as Pastor Jason’s teaching about how to dig deeper into the Word. Through this teaching, we learned to deepen our message and to develop the application to birth out new courses of learning. Morning devotion used inside the church was also a starting point for new lectures. It was a good chance to see how to apply the morning devotion in the actual field.

In 611, relationships are emphasized so much, such as in the couple’s camp that the first church camp was the couple’s camp. An apostolic church is birthed out of the senior pastor and pastor’s wife’s loving relationship, and as they give their lives to each one of the members, they see their growth. Thus, we learned how crucial the senior pastor’s responsibility and capacity is.

Through the Leadership Institute, we learned that the leader must be willingly changed first, and become the tree of life. And when we become the Tree of Life, we can see the way we should take, and the church vision starts to become clear. Here is the place to receive a living biblical teaching and a practical discipleship training. We as couple had our lives transformed in 611 BOL, and received a blue print for our church. We want to thank you, Pastor Joshua and c-mo, 611 BOL, bible school teachers, staff, from all of our hearts. ■ (Pastor Eiji Iwayama, senior pastor of Hesed 611 BOL at Hokkaido.)
