I turned to Christ as a child and have since attended various courses organized by various theological schools. However, the content and depth of the course offered by 611 Institute is unique in as much as it’s full of life and energy, and has practical application for the church.
611 Institute (and 611 Church) insists on reading the Bible during morning devotion at 7:00 am for four days in a week. This was the thing about the “course” that captured our hearts at the very beginning. We studied the Word of God chapter by chapter and delved into how we could apply it in daily life and prayer. It was eye-opening to discover that the Bible should be read, followed and applied in this way!
“611” is a church that welcomes continuous transformation by the Holy Spirit. Thus, the courses of the Institute are not confined to a particular format, but are adjusted – as led by the Holy Spirit. This affects the duration, content and focus of the course. When we started, our course was comprised of The Scripture, The Spirit, The Life and The Church Series. Due to new revelation and transformation, the course is now about “The Tree of Life”. Training in Life is far more than transferring and teaching of the spiritual gifts and preparation for power ministry.
The Institute and the church are closely connected. Through different serving platforms, the use of spiritual gifts and training discipleship, we deeply understand that the church today needs transformation by the Holy Spirit. This process helps peoples’ lives to grow, and them to become influential. This in turn transforms the church into becoming the “Ark” of this generation and to spread the message of hope, especially within the current social environment with ever-increasing difficulties.
Today God has chosen my wife and me for church planting. Being 611 Institute graduates, she and I are truly thankful. The training and nurturing of the Institute is unique in Hong Kong – empowered by the leading of the Holy Spirit and the grace of our Heavenly Father. (Pastor Baruch and Yuk-Man C-mo were commissioned in June 2022 to build Whole Whole 611 Bread of Life Church in Cheung Chau.)
