Continued from last discipleship column, Pastor Joshua urged us not to give up on discipleship even during hard times because we shall receive more from God:
We have relationship with our pets, when they pass away, it grieves us a lot, but this is part of life journey. I too suffered bereavement of my mother. For about 5 years, I walked with my mother through cervical cancer. Back then I had to carry her on my back, rushed to see doctor in taxi. It was a truly difficult time for me but my life is never the same again. Today, my life is always a blessing to others despite any difficulties in my life. Therefore we shall fear neither death nor sickness of our close relatives or pets as it is a blessing in disguise.
After the death of my dog Kindness, I keep Favor as pet now. When Favor leaves us, I will have another one. Every relationship is beautiful and worth building. The church has published a book called “God’s Kindness”. When my dog Kindness passed away in 2014, I said to God, “O God, I give my Kindness to You.” To that, God replied, “It is not your Kindness, but My Kindness. My Kindness had been with you throughout the 5 years of building the Mercy Seat.” The building of the Mercy Seat was really hard, whenever I struggled to go on, Kindness was there with me at the construction site. Kindness passed away in September 2014 after the dedication of the Mercy Seat in May that year. I realize that God shows us grace through our pets. Likewise, in discipleship, God shows us grace through our cell members. It does not matter if we do not have good relationship with cell members, as long as we learn from our failure, and re-embark the journey. We may have put in a lot, but no doubt, we shall receive even more.•
